With Gillows' innovation of the runner sytem to extend dining tables introduced in the early 19th Century their was a period of experimentation utilising existing table formats such as the breakfast table. With a single base these early tables could stand as a centre piece and then extend for dining and as with this example the format maximises seating with no out leg encumbrance. The beautiful timber of this table and finishing aprons to both end and tow extension leaves allow setting to the various lengths very neatly and at the 8ft size can seat 12 people comfortably. Standing on a refined turned stem supported by scroll foot quadriform cabriole legs this example is one of the nicest quality we've seen. Measures 96" long x 53" wide fully extended.
