We specialise in extraordinarily large genuine antique dining tables but sometimes a unique piece of history arrives to our stock and we are strongly reminded of our ancestors' most amazing level of craftsmanship and also how the wealthy commissioned such masterpieces to dine in their stately home magnificence. This absolutely stunning quality table is the widest we have ever seen at 200cm and is formed to the Gillows Imperial pattern as two demi formed console ends that incorporate an adjoining runner system to extend out to varying lengths with the original leaves that can be stored in the tables' leaf rack. It's evident from the pictures you are viewing that the leaves have spent much of their life stored away in comparison to the somewhat sun bleached ends but underneath is the most dense and highly figured Cuban mahogany waiting to be revealed by our highly skilled French polishers. The table stands on fine turned and inverted tulip carved legs terminating in detailed brass cup casters. After around eight generations of service so far, the table now awaits its next grand country estate dining hall once fully restored to its former glory. A true gem of history offered at a very low price for a piece of this rareness, calibre and scale. Measures 200cm wide and is 550cm long with all leaves deployed.
