All genuine antique pedestal dining tables are made in solid mahogany, sometimes with a crossbanded top and formed with rectangular, demi (rounded) and D shaped ends. The nuances thereafter are reeding to the sabre legs, lions’ paw or plan brass toe casters and the varying widths somewhere between 100cm to 130cm typically.

This sadly is not just on the unregulated website platforms such as Ebay, There are a couple of companies claiming to be ‘specialists in Regency dining tables’ you will find on the internet who are simply stocking these mass produced plywood fakes whilst describing with every indication that they are real ‘antiques’. Easy enough to spot though as the word ‘style’ or ‘vintage’ somewhere in the description, no Circa date given, no mention of restoration or polishing options, sold in ‘antique dining table & chairs sets’ and often in walnut veneers, oak or highly inlaid.
