The metamorphic ergonomics almost certainly points to the fact that this table was commissioned for a fine Town House where space constraint reqaired a large dining table on occasions with ability to disappear to the side of the room smartly as a console when not in use. The fine details begin with detailed rope carved edge to the figured top and continues to the panel beaded and gadroon trimmed apron supported by very fine cabriole legs with eagle claw feet and acanthus carved to the shoulder.
